Do you believe that Alexander the Great existed? We have more proof for Jesus Christ than for Alexander the Great.
vruz: this is quite amazing. I love it. I don’t even have to spin it.
WHOA NOW. Show me this proof Christians, inbox is open.
Alexander The Great was documented on many pieces of contemporary art and even currency. There are contemporary writings about him from all over the globe as well as writings from people who served under him and faced him and his conquest in battle. We even have writing in Alexanders own hand. There are no contemporary writings or images of Jesus.
Most importantly though, almost no one, save a few scholars, live their lives according to the word of Alexander The Great. And even for those scholars, the words of Alexander The Great are enough on their own. In other words, if it were revealed tomorrow that there never was an Alexander the Great, who would give a shit? It’d be huge historically, but really, it wouldn’t change who anyone is. If it were revealed that Jesus wasn’t real, a lot of people would change. They’d have to lose a part of their identity. The entire Christian belief system is contingent upon Jesus being a historical figure who more or less lived the life described in the books of the Gospels. The same isn’t true for Alexander.
And another thing, Alexander wasn’t magical. He didn’t rise from the dead or defeat a monster or walk on water or anything. What the fuck did Jesus have to walk on the water for anyway? Why couldn’t he just fly or teleport if he were going to violate natural law? It’s for dramatic effect, because that’s what good fiction writers do, create dramatic situations.
